I am hoping my 200K car holds on until I can buy an EV in the next year or so.

Don't dismiss Tesla so fast. The Model Y is exactly what you describe. We had an X but I hated the falcon doors, traded it for a Y which is just a bit smaller. I absolutely love it. We also have a 3 and love that too. The best cars ever.

The VW ID.4 sounds like basically what you're looking for.

We test drove the Tesla and expected to love it. We hated it. Way too sparse. We were expecting a luxury car and the Y and 3 are not luxury cars. We are going to wait for the I4 or Polestar or any of the others coming out in the next 6-12 months.

The i3 is pretty common where I am. Super small and easy to park in the city. But most still have the mid-sized tesla SUV.

We've got the Tesla 3 and it was cheap and drives really well. There's a few things that irritate me about it (mostly related to it not having any regular buttons for things like the a/c or wipers), but Tesla really did a great job with spreading those supercharger stations around the country and it's really easy to find one either on your phone or through the car's navigational system. It even tells you if they are in use or open so you don't end up driving someplace with no open chargers. I think it's comfortable too.

If you want a really basic cheap electric, it seems like the Volt is the current choice. But the Tesla 3 is a great mid-range option. And so much storage space. We've had no tech issues, the software upgrades are automatic, and the technicians come right to your house for any service.

Mustang Mach-E. Starts at 42k. Range is 230-305 miles depending on the model. 0 to 60 in 3.8 - 6.1 sec... and it’s a Mustang although according to some auto enthusiasts, “it’s an insult to what the Mustang stands for...”. Lol!

Ford designed it to compete with the Tesla model Y.

The Tesla Roadster 2 can go 0 to 60 in 1.9 sec. cost 200-250k. Range is 620 miles.

With the spaceX package 0 to 60 in 1.1 sec. price not announced yet.

There are no cars that can go 0 to 60 cars n 1.1 sec but there are some hypercars that can do 0 to 60 in 1.9 sec but they cost 4 million dollars.

Taycan - 192 range. Costs 260,000 fully loaded. 0 to 60 in 2.3 sec.

I currently own a 2018 Tesla Model S, performance. Range 315. Costs 155,000. 0 to 60 in 2.3 sec.

I prefer the Tesla. Better range, costs less. Super chargers which is free for this car. Tesla was running a special. I can beat most Ferraris and Lambos in a 1/4 mile drag strip in my mom car.

I am going to trade in for the Tesla S plaid + when it comes out in 2022. Range is 520 miles and goes 0 to 60 in 1.9 sec. Will be the quickest production car ever. Cool. The only car cooler will be the Tesla Roadster 2 which DH will get.

Pretty soon there will be many electric cars that are cooler and more prestigious than Tesla. Every electric car out there right now already has better build quality than Tesla. As someone else mentioned, the Taycan is obviously way cooler than any Tesla. Upcoming Audi E-tron GT and upcoming electric A6 variant, BMW i4. Teslas are so embarrassing

Tesla. No other electric car can beat Tesla’s supercharger network. We’ve driven cross country in our Tesla and it was super easy: car will tell you available super chargers, how many stalls available and how many miles it’ll take to get there. No range anxiety at all. Will be doing it again in May.

You're right it's not a Tesla. It's slower, has less range, and is significantly more expensive than even the highest priced Tesla!

But it looks sweet! Honestly, if you’re driving a Tesla, it’s mostly for appearances anyway, so why not do it in a car that actually looks good? I find nothing special about the styling of any of the Teslas, and some of them are just plain ugly.

Why would you say that? Literally no one I know got a Tesla for appearances.

Lol. Well, maybe for the appearance of the logo or whatever, certainly not for the design. Tesla's chef designer previously worked for Saturn and Pontiac -- 'nuff said!
