Three major roads Connecticut, Knowles, Summit surround the 2 blocks around the school. There are very few elementary students that could walk to that school without having to cross some pretty treacherous roads. Egress would be horrific.
Which is a good reason for Kensington to be used as a holding school to replace the one they'd lose if they reopen Grosvenor.
What students currently zoned to BCC would go to Grosvenor if they re-opened it? Seems pretty far. Or would they backfill BCC students from Bethesda Elementary/North Chase (Kensington) into Wyngate/Kensington Parkwood?
Possibly - and we've heard rumors of NCC becoming K-5 again (with Chevy Chase/Rosemary Hills remaining paired).

"Raylene Grant, the PTA president at Ashburton Elementary School, said her school has hundreds more students than it was designed for, making it tough for kids to get their lunch every day.
Even though Grosvenor is being used now as a holding school, it makes sense to use it to alleviate crowding, she said."

News coverage in Bethesda Beat makes it sound as if the site selection has nothing to do with BCC and Ashburton PTA is trying to claim Grosvenor for its own purposes’
