I agree with not going anywhere where hiking is the feature event.

I have probably 10-15 major trips ahead of me in my life (in 50's.) These are places that wouldn't make cut (when lottery winnings come tho I'm open to anything!!)
China and India. too bad as I have several friend in various regions in both countries so could arrange remarkable trips but the government and repression
Germany-just because I have too many ILs married into family and friends. I'd be afraid the country would be full of nationalistic blow hards like them.

Otherwise ready to go! Big trip this year is to French/Swiss border in Alps. I concur w/no cruises but love place we go to in Mexico (annual trip but not resort area)

Vietnam.

I am baffled that anyone could possibly include Paris or London on this list. Or Spain. Mind boggling.

Outer Banks is lovely. Eastern Shore beaches (Dewey, OC, etc) - ugh, would have to pay me to go.

Easter shore beaches. Can’t understand why they are so popular. I guess proximity. Also, Outer Banks.

I joke that our family prefers urban hiking since often travel to big cities. I doubt we would enjoy the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, etc.

Alaska seems far, expensive and boring.

Like others, I’ve steered clear of India (passed up free business travel opportunity).

When it comes to spending my own money for travel, I prefer the Caribbean or Europe.

We used to shun cruising until we had a blast on a Disney cruise. Now we love the opportunity they present to spend each day on a new beach (southern Caribbean itineraries are the best), and get dressed up for dinner (our kids love it). I discovered that laying on a lounger in a quiet spot on a deck relaxing in the sun or shade with a good book is magical...particularly when I send someone to fetch me a drink.

Yes, Vegas is depressing, but if you're into outdoorsy stuff it's a great base camp/launching pad. You're close to Joshua Tree, death valley, zion, red rocks, valley of fire, grand canyon...etc.

Outer Banks is boring. That's why we love it.

I'm open to most places, but have no desire to visit London. I've been to the UK and Scotland, and loved it, but London I'll take a pass on.

Disney. Without a doubt.

China

Paris.

I'm sure I'd have a fine time if I went, but it's not especially high on my list.

Yeah. Africa is small. And not diverse. Everywhere else is like those two places.

CC and MV can be very nice and are easy to get to for millions of people.

But they're crowded and hardly special.

Anyway, I’ve been there and absolutely loved it. But it’s not usually considered a vacation destination.

There are definitely parts that are destinations, but maybe more so for young backpackers.
