I don't send sick kids to school, but you gotta think that there are sick people walking around in public, too.Anonymous wrote:We get to spend today and tomorrow at urgent care getting treated for strep and I’m sure we’ll all still feel terrible by Christmas. You know who you are. You’re selfish and I’m just so angry because you do this ALL THE TIME and now we can’t do many of our cherished holiday things. F u guys.

My otherwise-healthy little kids seem to have runny noses and sneezing half the winter, and the doctor says that’s typical.
No, it is not normal to have a cold for half if the winter. Maybe because your kids never get a chance to recover? No, this is not healthy.
So you send your coughing and sneezing kids with running nose to school? You don’t care about other kids or your own do you?
Cleveland Clinic says to send kids with mild cold symptoms to school.

Yes or have symptoms after they are no longer contagious. My 3 year old is always a coughing sneezing mess, but I make sure to send him to school only well after he’s had any fever or changed behavior. If I kept him home whenever he LOOKED sick, he’d be out half the time. I’m sure people have looked askance at us when we are walking down the hall, but he isn’t actually sick!
You should get that checked out. Because... yuck.

It's never occurred to me to blame anyone else though. Is there really some magical world where no one ever catches a cold or strep throat?

No, only in the minds of those SAHMs who are busy priding themselves on “putting their kids first” while simultaneously taking digs at other moms for not putting their kids first (aka having careers).

What that tells me is that the kid hasn't had time to rest and recover, so they are more likely to catch other viruses since they're already run down. Stop making your sick kids fit into your schedule. They are not widgets to manipulate around to avoid inconvenience to your schedule. Get it together and actually prioritize your kids for once.
My kids have had plenty of rest and recovery time, but thank you for your input. Yes, three cold in a month is nuts, but yes, it does happen. One of my children is home with a nanny, by the way, so there is no manipulating of widgets to fit my schedule. You may step down from your soapbox now.
