WOH DW was being abused my her DH. She was sick of being beaten. She divorced him. Now married to a nice guy and has a kid.
How is it possible to have so many loser friends?

I’d love to be in a *good* LTR. But I don’t see men as a worthwhile risk anymore. Certainly not for marriage. Single lady, if you do marry, get a pre nup.

Husband had contempt for his wife pre-marriage. I predicted a divorce. Another couple I know who divorced, also, the husband stated he couldn’t stand his wife before they got married. I was shocked when they got engaged. Maybe her wealth was attractive?

What? Men can get 50/50 if they want and if they are willing to make effort to keep their 50/50 (i.e. adjust work hours to accommodate kids schedules).
I think what you are referring to is a situation when dads don’t want to make compromises to keep the 50/50 and then complain that they have to pay more because other parent has kids more.

+1. Once women that age are independent, whether by divorce or by widowhood, they are calculating in their heads the benefits of marrying again and often women have less to gain at that age by marrying again. I don’t think it’s a widow/divorce thing.
These women are making conscious decisions on what they want. None of this cat lady stuff. That’s old thinking.

Couple 1: H was a physically and mentally abusive, alcoholic creep. He was arrested many times for violence against wife. Once kids were old enough to stand before a judge and say they didn’t want joint custody, wife initiated divorce.
Couple 2 were married at 22. Divorced at 23. She had an affair with a grad school classmate.
