That’s a pretty sad list of Democrats.

This dude has zero chance. Absolutely zero. Worse than Ben Jealous last time. What’s he spent the last 5 years doing? It just looks like someone desperately trying to increase their profile.

In any event, I think we are all tired of the former Obamaboys. Neither this guy, Tom Perez or Riemer can win again just by associating themselves with Obama. People want a record and commitment to local politics.

Forget it. Last thing we need is another prohibitionist.

Not one that this Democrat would support.

I would not support Elrich in a primary either. But I do have a serious question, did you support Anthony Brown's candidacy for governor and if so, why?

Not PP but I don’t like Elrich either, and he’s not running for a Governor so any mention of him on this thread is just trolling. I didn’t “support” Brown - I voted for Gansler in the primary - but I did vote for him against Hogan.

Very honestly, Elrich is a better statewide candidate than Brown. And yet Brown’s candidacy was fully supported by the party and particularly the moderate/centrist wing despite the fact the only major item on his CV was the disastrous health insurance marketplace website rollout. Brown could not even provide an animating vision or purpose for his campaign except that he was designed “next” by insiders which is exactly why Kennedy-Townsend lost. While I don’t think Elrich should win, he will absolutely be a much better candidate than Brown and I find it odd that a lot of centrists/moderates pretend otherwise. He may still well lose, but certainly not as badly, and would definitely be a better bet to win.

No one from PG County can win a statewide race and to be honest, I would consider moving back to DC if PG County politicians took over the governorship and state agencies.

If that's true, it's because of the voters in Maryland who have bigoted opinions like yours.

I didn’t realize that being opposed to corruption is now considered bigoted. Woke identity politics has gone too far if corrupt politicians are now a protected class.

When has Alsobrooks been accused of corruption?

Doesn’t matter. The processes and gatekeepers have not changed. It’s the taint, whether fair or unfair and it’s going to take some time of good, corruption free government for that taint to wear off.

PG County won’t be free of the taint until someone there acquired power as an outsider explicitly running against the entrenched powers, not a product of them.

I agree that I know a lot of democrats who range from slightly left of center to way left and they are have a strong dislike of Franchot.

Of course they all voted for him over the Republican running so citing his general election margins is pretty meaningless in a discussion about whether Dems like him

I’m a Dem who hates Franchot. I cast a protest vote for the Republican.

The guy is smarmy and reeks of corruption.

He'd be a good choice.

Hogan is proving himself to be an asshole Republican and Maryland is sick of Republicans.

This Democrat voted for Hogan twice, and would do so again if he were able to run. The problems with most of the Democrats in Maryland is that they are out of touch reality.

I don't know if most are. There are pockets of liberals who think everyone thinks like them. But a lot of Democrats just don't like the extreme right and feel more comfortable with the extreme left. How do we get a more moderate Democrat through the primary?

This democrat is done with the liberal politicians of montgomery county. Once Elrich stops providing protection for students by removing SROs, we are out.

LOL. I’m a very moderate Dem and this is an issue that I support. It’s a make work program for cops that is doing more harm than good. If we were budget focused we would not be putting expensive cops in schools but instead putting them out in the community to investigate and solve crimes.
