Sort of like a Western wear sort of approach? This is a professional conference, and the look is pants, tall boots over pants, long suit jacket, tailored blouse. Lots of scarves, too (more than I expected).
What say you? I always liked the tall boots, but I’ve succumbed to DCUM pressure and put them in the back of my closet.
Southern women aren't exactly the epitome of fashion, OP.

Lol, this is how my SIL dresses all the time. She showed up to a hockey game in this almost exact get-up last season. DH and I just laugh, because it's not a good look, and really not a good look on her.
Your husband laughs at his sister's (very normal looking) outfits?
Wow. Nice family.
This type of heel is ridiculous at a skating rink..

OP, it's funny you posted this. Over the weekend we were out to a trendy restaurant and hung out in the bar before our table was ready. I noticed that probably 1/3 of the women were wearing tall boots over pants (jeans, black jeans, etc.), and I was thinking (per DCUM and a few fashion blogs) that this look was supposed to be "out." But these were women, younger and older, stylish, put together, and tall boots over pants was definitely NOT out in this crowd.
I don't think this look is as out or dated as the fashionistas proclaim it is.
