I don’t think it’s crazy at all! There is no perfect time to have a baby and there will always seem like there are reasons to do it and reasons not to. I will be 36 when my daughter graduates high school. Everything always works out! I say, go for it (:

I had my first and only at 42. He is only 3 now, but I don't anticipate regretting this. I spent basically 20 years of adulthood doing whatever I want, I don't care if I'm still parenting at age 60.

I’m 41 and would love another kid. DH not on board. I had enough difficulty convincing him to go for a 3rd when I was 38.

I think if we had one kid or we started late, I would totally go for a child at 41/42. Because I have 3 healthy children, we will stop.

My friend had her second at 47 and she is thrilled with no regrets.

My dear friend unexpectedly got pregnant naturally with her third child at age 40, while in the middle of studying for MCATS and applying for med school as a change of career (after getting a PhD in a non-science major and working in a different field). Her second child was already 5, her first child 7, and it was a surprise baby. Because she was going to be super busy the next decade, a baby was not ideal. But she wanted the child and made it work with lots of help from spouse and her mom filling in when she was unavailable for things. Her third child is such a funny, good natured, extroverted, happy go lucky awesome little guy. He is loved and has no adjustment issues or such at all, even though mom was pretty unavailable. She loves kids and talks about her friend who adopted a younger child in her early 50s after raising her own, how this friend was enjoying being a parent all over again. I don't think 40, or even 43 or even 45 is too late to have an infant, as long as you have the resources in place (available parent or grandparent or other reliable loving caregiver, the time, the money for a third, with college costs to high these days).

it’s not crazy people do it all the time. it’s not a new thing either. whether it will work for you is another question.

I highly doubt that. How old are you? Maybe you think 50 is like 70 but it is not.
