They worked out a deal with Alexandria to use their turf fields. They have nice fields, nice facilities and its close. Enjoy

Phew, guess that extra compensation the Alexandria ED gets is helping everyone.

Are clubs allowed to sublet fields to other clubs? It seems like these are all public goods and the clubs are purportedly using the same for the benefit of the local community. How does the local community benefit when the club rents the field at likely a premium to some outside entity? I wonder if the club’s rental agreement has some language about that. Clearly the local kids aren’t benefitting?

While I get the point about accommodating college coaches, Stafford is not Fairfax, and it’s not McLean. It’s over 1 hour away, definitely not “local.”

This was on the email sent out yesterday by the tournament director:

“Coaches and Managers,

The BU17, BU18, BU19 age groups have been moved to the Embrey Mill Complex in Stafford County, Virginia. Playing at this complex will allow College Coaches to have access to all games as they will all be at the Embrey Mill Complex...”

That one link above shows...

Ben Brenman
Edison HS Aux
Hayfield Stadium
Lee District Aux
Lewinsville Park
Linway Terrace Park
Minnie Howard
Police Field
Spring Hill Park
West Potomac Stadium
Witter Field

It might still not be enough but it's more than 4 fields.

All turf, All local, All good.

soccer hosts and they promised all turf fields this year even for the little u8 games. There are a lot of teams/games. I think McLean must have planned this tournament later without realizing all the turf fields were already permitted to Herndon. If you look at their website you can see all the fields they are using, it’s a lot.

Can someone provide a link where it says that we are playing in Stafford? Everything I found is showing McLean and Alexandria. Thank you.

Yup, looked at the website and they are using a ton of fields. Sounds likely that this is what happened.

Yeah I posted those links. I don't see any fields outside of McLean or Alexandria. I don't see anything about Stafford.
