But as to the hurt feelings - This is on the brother who texted you and stirred the pot. He could have left things alone knowing you were not invited.

Why are you such a bigot OP? And why do you support patriarchy? Does it give you pleasure to blame women such as your SIL but not men? Your own brother? Why? Your brother could have invited you, he is having a BBQ, he is your blood. But, SIL is to blame? Why? Why is this post not "my brother didn't invite me to his BBQ and I resent him for it."
