for those in areas where community programs are weak, club can be needed early.
My daughter almost quit lacrosse because she was on a community team where noone else could consistently catch or cradle and lost nealry every game 15-2 in 3rd and 4th grade. Then moved to a 2nd tier club and she fell in love with the sports. At the earlier ages, I actually believe the instruction 4th-7th is generally better at the mid-tier clubs over M&D, Hero, MD Units, etc. Much more teaching and less focused on winning tourneys.
Then if good enough, try out for the big clubs in 8th grade where everyone gets more competitive.

No one was going to the NFL or NBA. Lax club great for some, but not the only way to go. Clubs are tied to many high school teams by financial resources which is just not ok. Also, Club play while may increase skills for some also include injuries. Like I said I didn't think the clubs were worth it for the cost. Save for college play if you want for fun. Even do tournaments or club play, but for most the cost vs scholarships do not add up.

Methinks this guy is not telling the truth. If the six kids are all out of college and grad school with great jobs and former D1 walk on's would not be bothering to post here.

Agreed Club Lax is a waste younger years. My DS played from 8th grade through 11th then quit. Walked on in college division 1 scholarship. It's a waste because of the cost and lax really doesn't provide that many scholarships that are better than an academic one. it's not a career. Let them play if they want and you can afford it. Would I do it again nope. Same with soccer clubs huge waste of money, unless your kid really truly enjoys.
