How much money? Please tell us how you know.
As for "white guilt," I'm going to assume that you don't live in Montgomery County and are unfamiliar with the Montgomery County Board of Education.
How I know what? That it would cost $millions to change the names of all these schools? Do a little research - https://wjla.com/news/local/1-million-estimated-cost-to-change-name-of-jeb-stuart-high-school
Ok, you are right.... it's a combination of white guilt, AA shaming, and a heaping spoonful of liberal sanctimoniousness thrown on top.

Keep it up, folks.

Will they have to change the town's name, too? After all, it's named after John Poole who had around 30 slaves.
Nobody has to do anything. MCPS may choose to change the name, or may choose to leave the name. And MCPS has no authority over the name of the City of Poolesville, obviously.
not buying that . . .
What about the name of the county's name - Montgomery, named after Richard???
same dilemma shared with RMHS, no?
Don't you think it reflects badly on the county as a whole being named after a slave owner? If the CC and MCPS work together, then perhaps every name should be scrutinized. Why rename RMHS if the county's name remains the same, right?

There are plenty of immigrants who aren't particularly attached to the old names. We are foreigners, and wouldn't want to insert ourselves in such decisions unless we have a green card or become American, but honestly... why not?
Because they are an important part of American history. If you want to be Americans, you should know that.
