Yes, and those things were pretty awful for the people who lived through them, and many people died. You may not care if your kids and grandkids have to live through (or die in) the equivalent of the Black Death or the Spanish flu or whatever, but some of us do.

Massive, continued immigration from the Third World.

Unlike global warming, this is a real problem AND it is possible to do something about it. Except you don't want to, because your crazed ideology insists muh diversity is strength.

Racism aside, it's funny that you think those two issues are unrelated. Climate change is absolutely going to drive migration. Drought and heat waves, loss of farmland, natural disasters, disease--all of these things will push people out of the global South. Indeed, they already are.

Just you wait for the scale of the climate refugee problem.

Yeah that is going to become a problem in the next 10 to 30 years

You can’t really be serious that you are having anxiety over global warming YET you are considering a third child.

I think stupidity is going to get us long before the heat does.

This thread pretty much displays the stupidity of most DCUM commenters....as Country Joe and the Fish sang:

And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopie! We're all gonna die!

I really don’t understand why it’s a trend now to have three+ kids.

This article, and another like it( can’t remember where I saw it) are the reason we stopped at two kids. I question myself about our decision daily, since we still have time, and I love kids so much. I have friends with three or more kids, so I usually say something about us not having the money, so they won’t feel judged. Just trying to white knuckle it until biology makes more kids impossible.

We stopped at one kid so we could adopt a second child, not right now but when finances are right and opportunity arises. I wish more people who can afford would consider adopting instead of adding to population

People don’t have a very good understanding of history, do they? Do you really think things are so much worse now than they’ve been at many, many previous points in history? Anonymous wrote:I do worry every day about the political and economic landscape my kids and grandkids will live in because of climate change. We should join together across the aisle (most Americans are not as polarized as it seems) to address this.

I also look in my shopping cart to reduce plastic waste. If you're going to wash your fruits and vegetables, then you don't need a plastic produce bag. There are mesh ones you can use to keep limes together if you want.

Bezos is killing the earth with the plastic waste his businesses generate. Whole Foods alone is ridiculous with all their single serve food items in little plastic boxes.

I am not sure Americans can adjust their desires for large SUVs and 68 degree cooled large houses, even for their own kids.

This touches on why so many people don't really want to change her behavior or believe that changing their behavior can matter. Even if done on a mass scale. It would involve being inconvenienced.

And people don't want to be inconvenienced and so they convince themselves that anyone who worries about this stuff is an overly paranoid far-left nutter. Or that the problems simply don't exist, in spite of all of the evidence

It's really disheartening

Yes, I worry all the time. I'm deeply sad and concerned that we won't have leaders willing to take any action until it's far too late, which it is already getting to be. This is not something that it is fully in individuals' power to solve, we can have fewer kids and waste less gas and electricity but if it's left up to consumers only, that's giving up.

In general no ... my biggest fear is clean water. Many parts of the US do not have clean drinking water.

You know, this tired old truck of reducing people's legitimate concerns by claiming mental illness won't work anymore.

And so you really think it's is productive or nice? Try having a. Areal discussion with people, a back of forth, instead of resorting to smears and reductive thinking.
