Not rare for those hundred kids or their parents, is it? Hell of a price to pay for a socially/aesthetically-driven elective surgery with, at best, minor benefits, and then only in particular situations.


but more than a 100 will experience phimosis and need to be circumcised, bet those more than a 100 parents really wish they circumcised in infancy. Actually, it’s about 0.6% of all uncircumcised males that will require surgery in later life.

I left this decision up to my husband after I did the research and came out neutral on the topic. He is circumcised and he decided not to circumcise our son. Son is now 4.

Disagree. Had 1 BF who was not circ’d and he was quite average


I had 3 and none of them were anything special.

I have had uncut Bfs and cut BFs. Cut ones are numb as hell and need "waking up". Uncut ones have been ready to go, always.
I am not spending 20 minutes to wake it up. You want it? It better be ready.
Older DS is cut, younger one is not.

We circumcised because DH wanted to, but there is no doubt it affects sexual performance, as it removes highly sensitive tissue. I’m obviously not anti- circ, but let’s at least be realistic.

The aesthetic thing is so strange to me, because there is really not much difference in my experience. I dated a guy for YEARS before I realized he was intact, because as soon as he was hard the foreskin retracted and you couldn’t visually tell at all, nor was there anything remotely different during oral or intercourse. And (I now realize this is probably because he was uncut) he was always ready to go at the drop of a hat. I guess we were never ones to walk around nude so I never really saw it not hard. He never mentioned it because he assumed I knew, but I honestly couldn’t tell at all! It randomly came up in conversation one day and I was absolutely shocked because I had always been led to believe it was some huge deal or really gross or something. It’s actually just... not a thing at all. Totally like any other penis. Looking back though, he was an amazing lover, so maybe there is something to that.

11yo and 8yo DSs, uncut. DH is cut but didn't feel strongly either way.

The medical evidence of benefits doesn't appear relevant in the US and I didn't want to cause my children pain if I could avoid it.

Since I grew up in a conservative christian family I'm familiar with the origins of circumcision in America so that was also factored in the decision.

These are extraordinarily rare mistakes. Major medical malpractice. Like amputating the wrong arm. It happens, but extremely infrequently. Please tell me you are not basing your objections to any medical procedure on the rarest outcomes.

Male circumcision is not very different than certain forms of FGM. Educate yourself before you spout off. If you consider all FGM mutilation, then you need to consider male circumcision mutilation as well.


I am educated on the matter. Spoken with medical doctors (not just weird websites written By anti-religious bigots or wellness gurus) for clarification when researching the subject. The point of most forms of FGM is to deny a woman sexual pleasure. It can cause lifetime pain, urinary problems, labor and delivery problems. Male circumcision is a totally different ball game.


The point of male circumcision was to remove male pleasure from masturbation. Pop culture may have forgotten that, but that is why it's popular in the US. Now it's just popular because it's popular.

Unless you have done a survey involving experiences with many many guys I would say that your opinion is just anecdotal.

As is mine. My uncircumcised H was an average lover, my circumcised BF was fantastic. Shall I then assume that I know what is true of all men? No.

At least you're honest about it! I find it strange that some ppl refuse to admit it was mainly for aesthetic/ cultural/ religious reasons and always trot out the medical factor, when we are all (I assume) in the US and the WHO recommendation is quite irrelevant.
