That's your opinion, and an inaccurate one at that. Few people are dying to work for Kavanaugh, I for one, would worry about having my young daughter work for him. If the tiger girl got her position through her mother's defense of Kavanaugh against rape charges, that's a relevant story, and particularly if she received special permission not to do her ROTC obligation right away.

If that’s true and the tiger cub is getting special treatment and backing out of her obligations that is not correct. I had a college friend who did ROTC and remember he said there were no deferrals but that was quite some time ago.

Huh. I just googled it and it seems like active duty and reserves are the two options. Perhaps Kavanaugh is giving her special time off so she can fulfill her requirements. But that sucks if that same special treatment isn’t applied to all people finishing ROTC.

You are imagining favoritism. The bar for a Supreme Court clerkship is very high. Only a small number qualifies. If you don't have evidence of who was bumped by the Tiger club, you are just making stuff up.

On the other hand, any high school kid is qualified to intern for Harvey Weinstein. To get that job, you do need some favoritism.

Look, as an Ivy law school grad with plenty of friends with top appellate and a few Supreme Court clerkships, I can tell you with 100000%%% certainty that there are MANY extremely qualified grads who could have taken her place, in an instant. She got it due to connections.

Your credential doesn't give you authority on how many qualified female grads were applying for the Fall term of 2019 and also interested in working for Kavanaugh. You don't know and are imagining things.

Amy Chua also told Yale law students to make sure to wear makeup, have long hair and a dress rather than a pantsuit if they wanted to work for him. Sounds like a real friend to women.

Surprised no one has brought this up. She said she wouldn’t be applying to SCOTUS because she has an ROTC obligation to pay back. So why isn’t she headed to the Army? Like she publicly said she was? Another deferral? Is it standard to defer multiple years after grad school? And if it is, why did she lie? Or did she get another “special” favor? Or did she manage to bone spur her way out?

People here are talking about her next job being in Big Law with huge bonuses? Doesn’t she owe the Army time first?

I agree it’s weird she was ROTC at all. If she was really serious about the military, why would she not go military academy? Her parents could pull the strings to get her in. Otherwise, she could still be Commissioned out of law school without ROTC. It’s not like her parents (mom a best selling author) couldn’t afford her education.

No she won't. That's not how this works. Those who benefit from the swamp don't end up getting taken down by it - they stay on top. They marry each other. They consolidate power. She'll do great in life. And someone else, who didn't have Amy Chua as her mom, will do worse.

Oh, I have no doubt she'll make oodles of money and have a big office. She just won't get the cultural and intellectual standing that people like her crave. No top law school will come close to touching her if she goes on the law prof market, for example. Mommy and daddy's influence does not extend that far.

I appreciate your mild vengeance fantasy but I just don't think you're right. I think she'll be humiliated in the media for letting her mommy buy her a clerkship and then will thrive for the rest of her life with the benefits of her connections.
