Seems like that is what is going to happen with us
I told her when she got home that I feel like I'm in kind of a lose-lose situation:
If I go without her, I'll miss her and our daughter and be unhappy that they didn't get to be a part of the big gathering
If she goes after I insist/pressure her, anything that goes wrong (cancelled flights, etc) will be my fault
She says that she feels the same way
So I guess I will just drop the issue and try to have fun without them

It totally depends on your child's temperament, but both of my boys were walking at 9-10 months, and were very unhappy to be restrained/unable to crawl around on the floor by 5 months (first) and 7 months (second).
Regarding being gone for Christmas, try to imagine Christmas was yesterday, and you weren't home with your little one. You later see pictures on social media, etc. Are you cool with it, or do you feel regret?
