They are not as big as UVA and your kid will not fall through the cracks.
Tufts is an amazing school and in Boston.
If your kid can get into any of them, including UVA, he/she will get a great education.
One of my best friends kids went to Tufts and hated it. So she transferred. Guess to where? You got it. UVA.
Yes, the close knit community, diversity, not enough frat parties, or sexual abuse at Tufts makes it hard for southern whites. Oh and lack of confederate flags.

Probably wanted to join her entire high school class at UVA. It happens. Sounds like she wasted a good opportunity at Tufts.

You’re just jealous as hell because you can’t get your kids in.
Stop it, this is embarrassing for you.
I have 5 members in my family who went to UVA (including myself), and you all are acting like it’s Harvard. News flash, it’s a state school. A good one, but don’t get delusions of grandeur.
No one said it is, least of all me. But it is certainly recognized by academics as being on par with the schools that the OP has listed, at least at the undergraduate level, and it has very high admission standards. It’s absolutely the case that UVA bashers are jealous that they can’t get their kids in.
PP here: I’m a UVA alum, and so is my husband. We have 2 in college, one turned down UVA to attend a private.
College decisions are not made by just looking at rankings. There are myriad reasons to pick a school. The jealousy card you play is embarrassing because you won’t listen to the fact that people choose other schools for good reasons. Why would you immediately think it’s about jealousy?
Again, just stop.
Who said anything about rankings?
Oh and let me fill in the blanks: one of your kids turned down UVA to go to a private, and the other didn’t get into UVA.
We’re OOS. He went to UChicago., didn’t apply to UVA. Most kids in our area do not (crazy, I know!)

It’s not a welcoming environment for many kids who have grown up in a multicultural environment and is extremely segregated. I don’t understand why the fact that something is cheap makes poster think everyone wants it. There is nothing wrong with Macy’s but the one at Tyson’s II closed. Why? People like Neiman’s and Saks more. Would it be cheaper to shop at Macy’s? Yes. But not enough people did. Some families like catholic colleges, LAC, Ivy+... not everyone poster that would not choose UVA is bitter. It’s unclear why so many make that assumption???
