If my dad did something like this, he would have hidden cash or a check or some other sort of present in the box. The box might even be a "scale" box, but have something else entirely in it.
That's why he knows you didn't open it, not his bs about Amazon notifying him (which is not a thing, by the way.)

Anonymous wrote:Hi All, You may remember me from a week or so ago... I posted about my dad randomly giving me a bathroom scale. (Background: I am a soon to be 51 year old woman with 1 child. We live in a different state than my parents. I could lose 15 lbs but I am hardly fat. I have never discussed dieting with my parents.)
Update! Last night, my dad texted me asking me how I liked the scale. I texted back a “thumbs up” because I did not want to argue...he responded that I was “impossible,” and he knew I was lying because the “gift” was sent wrapped up... (and did you know this? I did not...) ..... when an Amazon purchase is sent all wrapped up as a gift, the sender can track when the package is opened! As you can imagine, the scale has NOT been opened. In fact, it is currently still boxed, wrapped, and sitting in my hall closet. I sort of ignored him, and did not want to engage in the madness....but I am mad....
Thoughts?!

I mentioned that I was a single mom (adopted a newborn 5 years ago)

Unless of course, you think he is gifting it to you to replace your old, tattered one.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:You probably have more than 15lbs to lose. My FIL buys scales for everyone. He likes them and it has nothing to do with weight. He buys it more for weighing luggage when traveling. I don't understand why is this giving you so much anxiety?
Uhhh, maybe because Op's dad has never given anyone a scale before and has only done so since Op gained a little weight? Amazing coincidence?
But I'm going to guess that you still fit into your HS prom dress so it wouldn't occur to you to feel a bit judged by a gift like that? Imagine if your FIL randomly sent you, and only you, a case of Ensure shakes....still o.k.?

Do you also ask him if he knows how to use a scale? Maybe you need to show him how?
He is thin, obsessed with his weight, and always has been this way..,
—— OP
He probably doesnt eat much and can control cravings?
He works out a lot, eats well, indulges occasionally —/ op
