I have what I thought were nice LOFT pants for work. One day, the hem of the pants came down. No big seal. Well come to inspect it, as it was never sewn. It was glued! If I want that side to look like the other I have to get some fabric glue or that iron on stuff. Crap.

Omg....tossing many of my pants. I was wondering wtf is happening down there, did I need to see a doctor or something. FOrgot it is the cheapo pants I have settled for over the past several years. Used to stock up on BR lovely pants, lined, great quality, etc.

At this point, Express has higher quality than AT. Brands shift- Express shifted up and AT shifted down. Express is now doing better on quality than BR, too.

TOTALLY agree. (For those old enough to remember, Express in the 90s was DA BOMB. I had blouses and sweaters from there that laste for years. It was a high-fashion day for me when I sported any Express gear at school. The clothes were great quality, they lasted--and were EXPECTED to last. We took pride back then in having these solid pieces for years. We cared, even in high school. Now, the industry has inculcated kids w/the throwaway mindset.)

I think there should be a moratorium on ALL NEW FASHION LINES. No more, we already have fashion waste in abundance, clothes being dumped in other countries, etc. THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE, HAS NOT BEEN FOR YEARS!!!

I have wonderful UNIQLO cashmere I bought ten years ago that has not pulled yet but won’t buy anything now. They got too big too fast.

To be fair. I've still gotten some good basics there. Still wearing the black skirt I bought three years ago all the time. And have liked their summer cropped pants. But not finding tops/blouses/sweaters I like at all or dresses. Used to be my go to place for dresses and stuff.

I cannot find nice, cute, casual dresses anywhere.

Price was king for a long time and in the run to the bottom quality left. Planned obsolescence of clothes is the same as of appliances and other durable goods, its a nice business racket.

Ann Taylor shirts cost more than $20. And the issue of fast fashion and cheap China labor and materials affects "high quality" labels as well. I'm not convinced that spending more will give me higher quality clothes.
