Any suggestion on what to do with our situation? DS already scored 98 & 99 percentile on cogat and nnat.

I think the CogAT verbal for this age group is a poorly constructed, pointless section. My DS only scored slightly above 110 last year on CogAT verbal, but had a score in the high 120s on the WISC Verbal. DS has had no struggles at all in AAP this year, and has been strong in verbal analogies like Wordmasters.

For 3rd grade and up, the CogAT uses words rather than pictures. I wish the 2nd grade test included both the word and the picture for the kids who struggle to decipher pictures.

No offense at all but given the rejection scores in this thread, you really lucked out with this.

None taken. As I stated I am completely surprised. I really think the strong comments and work samples from our teacher made a difference.

Many suspect that for Cognat, high Q and high NV will be better than high V (but low Q and NV) even if the Composite score is the same

DD’s verbal scores had nothing to with her language skills, either. We submitted her poems and stories to offset that. This was last year, and she got in.

I'm curious if anyone got in with 2 frequently and 2 consistently, or any occasionallys. It looks like 3 consistentlys is the standard for getting in (the "new 12").

What is "low"? I'm one of the "not in" PPs and my DC's quantitative was 136.

That wouldn’t be it. Not the other poster whose child had a quant of 138.

Some of these results are bizarre. Hope y’all can get your packets, and find something glaringly wrong there (like poor commentary or work samples).
