It's a mix with who is leaving and who is joining DA.

First and most importantly, DA is pulling ahead and the boys side by a good margin. Was at a field last week with Sasho (UMD Mens Coach) just hanging out watching U17 Bethesda DA Boys vs Armour. Second, they are likely to allow players to play HS if they choose to do so, although it will still be discouraged. DA has the backing of US soccer. Lastly, the obvious, the DA to US Womens' Soccer connection/ID Camps, ETC...


There’s no mix on the girls side. Top clubs out and not top clubs in. US Soccer tried to keep ecnl players out of ynt camps. It didn’t last. PP is about a year behind.

Boys DA is the clear cut #1 platform for the boys. This could change when MLS teams leave.

I would not put GDA in the same conversation though considering the elite clubs that have left and are leaving.

Do you think all these top girls programs would be leaving the DA if they were going to lift the high school ban?

ECNL went from 2 NoVA teams to 4 teams. And similar additions are happening elsewhere. Many clubs initially replaced departed ECNL clubs for DA but it is safe to say that ECNL is expanding at an aggressive pace.

There is talk of a tiered ECNL and that many clubs will have two teams. PDA and Michigan Hawks already have two teams in ECNL per age group.

So the question becomes, is ECNL diluting its product through such aggressive expansion? Exactly what is the patch worth if there are so many spots for players?

One huge advantage that ECNL can have through its expansion is that with more clubs travel for league games can be much less and therefor much cheaper. But that does not equate to better soccer. This will have a greater impact on regional leagues like VPL and CCL.

Ultimately it is where the players go that matter

Having seen both programs first-hand, FCV is a more intense program. For better and for worse.

Loudoun 06 ECNL are in the second bracket at Jeff Cup and FCV DA are in the first. 4-7-2

Loudoun 05 ECNL (1-9-2) are in the 6th Bracket and FCV's NPL, NPL!!!!! team is in the 5th Bracket above them.

But you go and get that last top bracket Jeff Cup win at 9v9 Loudoun Red!

Mclean is an absolute disaster. Worst club in the area psychologically on the girls side. Follow the 06s who have to do wasteland ODP to try to grab attention. Only figures the 07s only give partial committment.


I think Braddock Road, Loudon, and fcv can challenge for that title.
