In all the reporting about this, it's said that the kids "didn't know" their parents had bribed the colleges, etc. But how do they know that? Of course the kids are going to deny knowing about it.

At any rate, I guess it's completely on the parents as the kids, even if they did know about it, were probably minors at the time. I can't even believe there are parents who would do this.

We know a dad who donated his building company for a new hall at the VA instate university that all of his (four) kids have been accepted to. He wasn't even embarrassed about it, and in fact, brings it up quite a bit! It's like he's proud of the fact that he bought his kids admissions. Unbelievable that this is allowed, but I guess if it benefits the school, they're not going to complain.

That's a lot of money, but we will have half of that saved and could theoretically pay tuition out of pocket. We are top 5% but not super loaded. 500k isn't enough for USC much less the elite schools. The Bloombergs donated entire buildings. As did Kushner's dad.

I wouldn't want to waste half a million on a kid who get in on their own merits anyway. What you going to do when the flunk out freshman year - ask for your donation back?

Just set them up with their own small company of their choice (like DJT's father did) and move on.

That said, I am/was? a LL fan. I read a quote from her daughter today that said she was never really into going to college anyway, so maybe LL felt this was the only way to get her into a good school. Am I justifying what she did/ is it right? Of course not. I got into an Ivy without connections/ bribes/ legacy and her kid could have too, if she had wanted.
