Ok, are you sure that’s the reason the Ft. Myer swim team isn’t part of the NVSL? That’s a pretty serious allegation. I’m open to learning that you’re right, but it strikes me as a pretty big leap.

The other option was NVSL, which was segregated at that time.

Arlington is a high-density, close in suburb of DC. It doesn't sound comparable to where you live. If you go to western Fairfax there are plenty of pools.

In 2018 we paid $2850 for an Arlington Forest Club certificate. We got off the waitlist the standard way - after 6 years. Our annual dues this year were $750.

Haven't read all of the replies. Middle class South Arlington family here. We previously were members at Lincolnia Park Recreation Club, and are now members at Parklawn Pool. There are a number of Arlington families at Parklawn in particular. It's a basic pool, but, does the trick for the kids!

There was never any closure of public pools in Arlington, and the county has continued to open new pools over the years. There are three public pools (operated by the school system), and the one at W-L HS has an outdoor deck. Upton Hill is the other public pool. The Long Bridge Pool (indoors), operated by Arlington County, recently opened.

There is also Knights of Columbus and, if you are military or have a DOD ID, you can try Ft Myer. You have to pay a fee for these.

For $335 you can get a family pass to the public pool at Upton Hills park + 4 other Nova parks waterparks. You don't have to join a private pool. But, the public pool doesn't have swim team.
