SR Coach was very aggressive with refs - at one point loudly calling attention to a Visi offsides. That one didn’t bother me so much because Visi was, in fact, offsides but it was handled strangely. I am sure Visi was doubly irritated because calls seemed to go SR way from then on.

The most noticeable incident was a Visi parent was heckling/objecting to (depending on who you were rooting for) the SR Coach over those type of aggressive antics - she was pacing and yelling up and down the sideline - and said something to the effect of “you are no Cathy.” This was said across the field, so very loudly. I wasn’t sure what that meant. Maybe a reference to Cathy Reese? Anyway, the SR coach roared back “That’s right. I’m Kristen McDaniels.” It felt a little like she lost it. Wouldn’t want my kids viewing that from a coach/role model.

Visi fans probably have many more examples of egregious SR coaching and SR parents will tell you she was within her rights, trying to draw attention to penalties committed over and over by Visi. An aside, SR had way more student fans at away game who showed great team spirit (and the girls were well behaved from what i saw).

Bottom line: Neither school totally behaved the way I would have wanted to see. It is high school lacrosse, not life or death. I prefer old-school, quiet intensity so both teams turned me off, quite frankly.

You just can’t do that on social media and set that kind of tone for your players. It’s wrong. Keep it on the field. Don’t elevate your insecurity to Instagram.

+1. Why on earth would the Visi coach post on insta like that? She had the moral high ground. The SR Coach was obnoxious AND Visi got the win. Why take to social media and put yourself in the wrong? Shows a real lack of self-restraint and is the opposite of the behavior I would want my daughter to emulate. Is there truly no one out there with self discipline anymore? Act like you have been there before. No win is worth being a jerk.

I have no dog in this fight. And wasn’t there. But totally agree that posting on Instagram is childish. Not good role modeling.

Especially in the current era where parents and educators have to teach kids that social media is dangerous when used for the wrong reasons - like bullying (or shaming in this case) or over-sharing. All are inappropriate and hurtful. We need to do better, be more thoughtful before we post. Be gentler with peoples’ feelings, use empathy. This thread, this forum is another perfect example of that.

Any behavior is better then the behavior displayed by the SR coach. That’s what all of this was in reference too. Coaches are welcome to state their own opinion. But in this case, it is fact. Their season is done. Let’s move on already. GO SSSA!

I absolutely love this thread! Full parity is achieved when female coaches of girls’ teams can act just as boorishly as male coaches of boys’ teams! Next up for the female coaches, fist fight at Caddy’s!

With that said, if you ever watched the Visi coach (and not through biased eyes of a Visi parent), you would know it is laugh out loud funny for her to be criticizing someone else's behavior. I wasn't at this game, so maybe she was actually under control, but come on...

What did she say that wasn’t true? It’s her opinion. she said something. You might not like it, but she said it. Your daughter didn’t get into VISI. Move on.
