I noticed that the Car Gang and the River Guy also had normal eyes. The “things” aren’t always around.


River Guy did have the weird eye thing, not sure about the Car Gang Guys though.

I really liked the actors and thought "girl" was particularly sweet. I liked Sandra Bullock and Tom's chemistry together a lot.

Side note, am I the only one who thinks that Tom resembles a much more attractive version of 50 cent?

YES!!! I kept trying to place her, and finally googled All in the Family (couldn't remember Struthers' name). I could have *sworn* it has her!! What a resemblance.

I think he was still in the process of transforming, so he still had the wherewithal to pull the trigger.

How did Tom kill the bad guy after getting the crazy eyes? I thought because that was his worst fear, that someone would hurt Mallory and the kids.

Those who saw the entity underwent what appeared to be a permanent physical change. Even if a baby couldn’t kill itself right away it could eventually.

I am one of those people who loves to hate what the masses love, but in this particular case I am going to have to agree with the masses-- I loved this movie!

It also seemed as if they could have gone outside unblindfolded - briefly - as long as they had the birds with them.

I was curious how the John Malkovich character survived being in the open garage. Did he just sit there with his eyes closed?

I kind of thought they should have let the kids look. The creatures show you your worst fear, but they are blank slates, no fear. No comprehension. Perhaps they could grow up evolved to process them.


That's exactly what I thought and I kept thinking that would be the twist - that only children who had been born during that time, and thus had no references for fear (as they had been completely sheltered) would be able to look.

I also wondered why they couldn't go out at night; would they have been able to see anything?
