I absolutely love pulling forward into a space and parking as close as I can get to the car that backed into (or pulled through) the space in front of me. I know that person is going to come back with their purchases and try to load them into their car -- somehow (not sure what their plan was) -- and they won't be able to open the trunk because my bumper is in the way.

Park the way God intended -- forward.

I like to switch it up and keep my skills sharp. I can back either of our minivan or our 8 passenger SUV into a parking place in a single reverse maneuver. This isn’t hard. But t takes practice. I am AWESOME at getting out of crowded lots after games because I don’t have to back out. It is the superior way to park, and those who complain are just admitting their own failure with respect to mastering this life skill.

No here. I don’t back in when grocery shopping or when I know I need to put stuff in the back, but I do pretty much everywhere else UNLESS there are several cars behind me. I back in because this way I know exactly what’s behind me and I’m not running the risk of a car zooming past or a kid running behind the car which can happen when you back out of a spot.
I can back in in 2 maneuvers: pull forward at a slight angle and then back in. I could do this with my small SUV before rear-cameras, although I do like having the cameras now. People are too impatient when I’ve been backing out of a spot and are speeding through a parking lot (I’m halfway out of a spot and they speed around).
If you can’t back you car into a spot because your car is too big, how the heck do you back out of a spot??

I never saw anyone do this until I moved to the Midatlantic and it is super annoying and they don’t leave enough room on one of the sides ever. Obnoxious and it is as if they want people to sit and wait while they pull off their awesome backing maneuver for an audience.

I back in for a legit reason: the turning radius on my minivan is weird and it's far easier to back in (more directly: I can't park it head first without multiple maneuvers, but I can quickly back it in without adjustments).

The fact that the op is so aggravated by waiting a few extra seconds speaks volumes. As does your hostility, pp. Your lack of self-awareness is both befuddling and amusing.

To sum up: nobody backs in to purposely aggravate you. The fact that you assign malicious intent might be something to explore with a therapist.

You are way too worked up about this. Don't you know that recommending therapy over something this small means *you're* the idiot.

And it is about more than just waiting for you. Expecting others to wait while you take 8 years to back in (you know you do) is already rude, but its the pull past and back up part that is dangerous in a busy lot.

If no one is around, back in all you want, but in a busy lot, get over yourself and park normally.

I think it’s more common now that people have back up cameras. I never did it before I had one.

No! It is only recently that I have noticed people doing this idiot backing in all the time. If you pull *past* a space, I assume you are not taking it. If you stop and then try to back in in a busy parking lot, you are an a-hole and a menace.

Also isn't pulling through technically illegal? As in, if you pull through and someone pulls into that spot from the correct lane in the parking lot and you hit head on, you are at fault.

If you are a bad driver and incapable of backing out of a spot, then yes, you should back in. I glad all of you recognize your limitations.
