With the alarm we went from it going off 2-3 times per night, to once per night, to once per night but much later like 4-5 am vs 12-1 am, to occasional dry night to more dry nights than wet nights. I don't think it is completely over but we are getting very close.

I pushed the alarm because I'm sending him to overnight camp this summer and I want him to be able to go to sleepovers and be completely comfortable.

We're really hoping for summer camp as well, but it's looking unlikely, because he hasn't had a dry night since before Christmas.

Do you happen to know if the alarm can still work with a pull-up/diaper..?

Get him the Goodnites underwear for when he is sleeping away from home. Other kids use them and if he does have an accident he can change without the other kids ever knowing it happened.

+1 Also kids these days don't seem to care as much about issues like this so even if the other kids do notice it probably won't be an issue.

I thought I would chime in anyways. My son recently turned 8 and still wets the bed. He is tall and very slim and just hit 45 lbs. With him weighing less than the majority of other kids, I dont see how diapers can fit an 8 year old even as small as he is.

There are size 7 readily available for kids over 40lbs and they have enough elasticity that a slim 8 year old can still fit them

Are you referring to a regular diaper and not a pull up? His 3 yo cousin still wears diapers so I dont know if he would be keen on wearing actual diapers again.

He might question it at first but it is much better than waking up cold and wet. It is only for night so he shouldn’t be bothered much what it looks like. Remind him that it is only for just in case.

However we sort of approach things a bit differently. We are very easygoing with it, but we keep night diapers completely optional.

Typically with him, he'll decide on his own to put on a diaper for bedtime again after a few nights of waking up wet. If he has a stretch where he's waking up dry, he'll wear underwear, until there's a hiccup. We leave it entirely up to him.

Can he put it on himself without help? Does he seem to have more frequent accidents if he is very tired?

He can indeed. Usually his dad or I will adjust to snug up the tabs a bit more while actually getting him tucked into bed, or less often we'll do it for him if he's knocked out and drowsy. But these days mostly he just does it himself.

I haven't noticed accidents get more frequent when he's tired, to be honest. With him it's always been pretty much consistent, doesn't matter what he does or doesn't drink before bedtime or in the evening etc.

My daughter is 8 and its pretty much an every night thing here. I will breakdown and buy pull ups when I want a break from deal with soaking wet beds. They dont exactly do the job but will prevent her bed from being totally soaked. I only buy them if I absolutely have to. I personally dont like them.

What ages are they? Is it an every night thing or just once a week? More or less?

I supposed my attitude with this has changed, since I was a first time mom with my eldest.

On kid #3 now, and honestly? I've taken a completely different approach with this. Our first son I did all the things...read books, articles, how-to guides. We did midnight wakings to carry him to the bathroom, limiting drinks. Everything, short of medication.

With my younger two? I seriously couldn't care less if they wear night diapers until they're in college.

Sleep is a rare commodity these days with a family of 5, and given what I've learned about bedwetting being developmental, and primarily controlled by hormones etc? We just DON'T make a big deal about it anymore.

They'll get there when they get there, and in the meantime, I'm not going to freak out about it.

Is there any problem with him wearing a pull-up at night? He needs a full uninterrupted sleep that is more important than him being dry at night at this age.
