Congratulations to your daughter. My DD recently graduated from OSU and loved it.

OSU was a perfect fit for my DD and she knew it right away.
She did not feel the same way about any other college we visited and we visited many. She had a great experience there and got a great education.

We didn't get the merit award information until late January/February. If I remember correctly, the information was released weekly with the largest amounts awarded being released first. The National Buckeye Scholarship was given to you at the same time. It was a long wait as DD received her acceptance in November also.

I hope your daughter loves it as much as mine did.

Congratulations to your daughter, OP! I hope she loves it! Both my husband and I went to a Big 10 school (Michigan State) and we loved the experience.

Don't let the weird responses from some of the posters put you off. Most of the DMV area forgets that there is a wonderful part of the country, called the Mid-West, where millions are very happy and thrive.

Caveat - I haven't read the whole thread.

I had a friend in high school for whom Ohio State was his dream school. He must have had relatives that went there and was dying to go there himself. I distinctly remember him saying, "I'm ready to be a number, not a name". I think the downside is that it is HUGE.

He didn't end up going there - can't remember why (maybe he didn't get in? Or his folks didn't want to pay OOS tuition... he ended up at a state school).

You read my comment wrong. DC is far worse than OH, that's obvious and has always been the case. Anyone who can read knows about the soaring crime of all sorts in Lewiston, this is not a single incident, but a build up after repeated roving packs in the park.

lol what.... this is so wrong. OP, I went to OSU and had a great experience, and no I'm not particularly into football. The school is so big that anyone can find their niche, and Columbus is a great city. It was the perfect college experience.

Me, too. I actually hate football and still loved it there. And I live in the DC area now. Finding a job here was easy. The alumni network was really helpful and I am always forced to go to the Scarlett and Gray Congressional breakfast by colleagues.
