This is ridiculous. Grandma is a bigot.
If my 95 year old Fox News watching Korean War vet Grandpa can warmly welcome my brother’s husband into our family, others can get in line. It is ridiculous to be so hateful in this day and age.
Is it really worth calling grandma names over it? Don’t scarifie your family for gay marriage
Why do you blame the mom for standing up for human rights for tearing the family apart? Why not blame grandma who’s being bigoted and homophobic for being the one who’s tearing the family apart? What if the kid winds up being gay? Do they still need to accept grandma’s beliefs?
Because it's obviously a big deal to grandma, not that big of a deal to op

On the other hand, it's also bad to tell him that your mom's views are wrong just because you disagree with her.

Would it be bad to tell him your mom's views about Black people being (XYZ) compared to White people are wrong? Of course. This isn't different. Some people are wrong and its immoral to let hate/bigotry fester.

If the OP thought her mom's views were right, presumably she would also hold them. So, since that is not the case..what is she supposed to say? The view is wrong. It is what it is.
Different is not wrong. It is different.
In this case, it’s also wrong.
Once upon a time these “different” views included things like black people being inferior. Do you want to teach your children that’s not wrong
And this is the best way to explain it.
Tell your son that your mom comes from a different time, when people didn't understand the concept of being gay, but that people know much more about it now, and now people don't believe that any more.

Now, there's a point.
