OP here: He said he doesn't go number 2 until he gets home from work on Fridays. He has a light dinner the night before and skips breakfast/ coffee.

My husband was able to come home for lunch with one of his jobs. It was awesome. I knew when to expect him - having him home for lunch was a nice part of our daily routine. Our son loved seeing Daddy at lunchtime.

word of caution, be careful what you wish for...your words will be the direct cause of his actions and if he stops coming around for other things, becomes less engaged, etc. you have yourself and only yourself to blame.

I understand you OP. There were times when I felt like things just went so much smoother when DH didn’t come home. He riles the kids up, doesn’t follow their routine/rules, let the kids make big messes, and they would get way too much tv with him and so they would always whine for it when he was home. But I also felt bad for feeling that way. I can relate though- it totally just throws you off your routine.

No. There was only one time that he was working close enough to come home for lunch when my children were young. We loved it.

I only got into a fight with him once when he gave me very little notice that he was bringing a co-worker home. After that we designated a day in the week where he could get some of his co-workers for lunch.
