many people think that, say, Mattis is doing precisely what this op-ed is saying.. but writing the op-ed defeats the whole point of doing it. Mattie would never do t. This is very dangerous... trump is still the president.

I've seen a number of Dems convinced that it's a set up designed to keep uneasy Republicans from deserting before the midterms. (I don't think that's the case -- I think this letter is more likely to spook the herd.)

I read someone doing amateur detective work and keying on the use of the word "lodestar." They couldn't find any evidence of the generals ever using the word but found several speeches indicating that Pence is fond of the word.
