DCUM can be over the top, but at the same time it was rude of OP to send her child to a school and pull them out after a day and I feel like she's being overly dramatic. Other people I hear sign up to attend public the day before school starts too which I also find rude. I just feel like OP is sanctimonious about her behavior compared to the school's but don't really find her behavior all that great either. Maybe if I were in her shoes, I'd care it was private and I was paying tuition that they weren't crediting me for, but for public what does it really matter if you've removed your child and they are now at a different school? Would you really be that annoyed that you'd post on a message board to complain about a school system for this? It's a type of defamation. OP already has some notification from FCPS and her child's already in a different school. Does it really make a difference if they get back to her with a note after a day or several weeks? Also, if she went to open house, OP must know that it's too difficult to give back school supplies. I mean with privates you have to put down a whole $500 to $1000 tuition deposit or more. Why should OP expect school supplies of pens, pencils, and paper to be returned to her? It wouldn't happen in private either.

OP is looking for advice and/or constructive commentary. We are supposed to be here to help each other, other moms. You have a different agenda. Start your own thread about how perfect your life and your school are.

As for the supplies, it may not seem a big deal to you, but if you have no affiliation to a school, do you randomly donate school supplies? Of course not. OP spent time and money on her DC's school supplies, that obviously OP can use at her own school, for her own child. If that was your child, you would be completely incensed and indignant; but probably completely fake about it. You are one of those posters who would rather pile it on than be helpful.

I enrolled one of my kids in an online fcps class for this school year in June. Never heard a word about whether the application was approved or not. I found out when I logged into SIS this month. I had assumed I would've heard something from the online campus office over the summer but didn't.

OP, This was the first day of school? Do you have any idea of what goes on the first day? Kids showing up without being registered; parents unhappy that Johnny is in Larla's class and wants Larla moved out NOW--or worse, demands that Johnny be moved out because Larla's best friend is in the class. The administration is also likely in the cafeteria helping with kids who do not know how to go through the lunch line. Not only that, the principal is likely on the phone with cluster director begging for another slot so that the classes are not so big. And, then there is the phone call from mom whose child did not get off the bus or the teacher who just told her that she has decided to retire next month. Oh, yes, and the Kiss and Ride line with ten kids still standing there long after school is out. So, the administrator needs to find those parents--one of whom was the mom who is mad because her child did not get off the bus--even though she had indicated that she was picking her up.

So, OP, enjoy your private school with your nice handwritten notes.

OP, one grade is public elementary school has the same number of kids as an entire private school.
