My kid is just so excited that a couple of old friends that were waitlisted got in the program and she's going to be able to hang with them all year.
I think your kid sounds awesome.

How many kids are we talking about? I thought it was only 10 or 15 kids added to the program. That's certainly not enough to disrupt an entire program or cause a scheduling disaster. It's my understanding that the few waitlisted kids who were admitted last minute (and no, my child is not one of them) attended the orientation and received their schedules at the same time as everybody else. The first week of school is always chaotic with kids switching into and out of classes. And the CAP classes have not been shortened.
Yeah this fits with what I heard from my kid. Do we even know if they added an extra class or did they just distribute a few extra kids among the classes?

Anonymous wrote:My child was actually switched into a different CAP group since orientation with all different kids than expected. It was disappointing. And also had English instead of History (because they were switched) so didn’t bring correct homework. Seems completely unfair after working so hard all summer to not get credit because of a schedule change.

I know that they have block scheduling in the afternoon CAP classes where the rest of the school has a different schedule, so on ODD days they have 7th and 9th and even days they have 6th and 8th, but I thought that was always that way for CAP kids. Is that new this year? It seems far more sensible to me, honestly. Longer to really get into the Photography, Scriptwriting, and Drama classes. Nothing seemed to be shortened.
NP. I don't the details of what's going on now, but as the parent of a former CAP student, I can assure you that if your CAP 9th graders are switching classes while other students are still in class, that's how it's always been.

+1
My DC will graduate from the Blair SMAC this spring. I don't know what we would have done with the HGC, TPMS magnet, and Blair. If any kid ever needed that curriculum, it is ours.

Also, after putting a lot of work into summer homework, found out that it’s completion grades.
I tried telling new CAP parents this on another thread weeks ago.
