We love the school. The numbers don’t matter that much to us. The other students are really good kids and our kids are learning. Sure, I want growth for all students. No one in America seems to have cracked the code for urban education, however. Think about how the school would suit you and your family, not whether they’re working educational miracles for other students. Sounds kind of selfish, but I’m not a teacher or principal.

I’m concerned about our future school Powell.

ELA for Hispanics and Blacks 23% while Whites scored 80%.
Math, Hispanics outscored Blacks; 31% to 29% while Whites scored the same.

Has the school shown gains? What is this principal doing after being there going on 4 years I believe!

I will say, albeit not my management style, the school is very intact. Guess she brought over her military style skills from her previous position in NE.

I don't believe elementary school is a good fit for her as a lot of things IMO she's out of touch with. Maybe things can be worst, but she sure is a politician if you know what I mean.

Powell is a great school in spite of the current Principal who, in my opinion, is inherently dishonest. I would not make a decision to attend based on a conversation with her. Talk to other parents, teachers, or the other AP's if you want a real sense of the school.

Why does she remain when theirs a great AP that’s more acceptable to parents?

Because principals don’t report to parents? There are aspects to any principal job that are invisible to parents.
