S4E5 He says that his dad is from Beirut and his mom is from Mumbai.

This is bad writing. They should explain why they are from Beirut and have Indian names, Abdul (his dad) can also be an Indian name. This just makes them seem careless, basically saying all Asians are the same.

The character of Whitney Solloway is horrific. I can't imagine why her parents allow her to speak to them that way - and then for Noah to pay for and plan her entire wedding and not be invited. Whitney has no shame.

Season 5 is beyond ridiculous. Especially the whole story line with Joanie in the future in the weird guy who's been investigating her family. And of course - they have to hook up. AWFUL. What happened to this show??

Anna Paquin is such a horrible actress. And so unappealing.

I’m enjoying parts of it.

Liked the older daughters struggles with her fiancé, hated her hooking up with the artist in front of the guy with his hand down his pan

Liked the kid getting her first period with Helen not around butbhated that we haven’t seen that kid since she was choking at the lobster roll

Like the mother but totally unrealistic she’d just leave the dad in his condition, even with a caretaker. I do like the dementia story line though

Have hardly seen vik’s Baby
Any of the Joanie scenes
The principal school board stuff
The whole story line with the actor
The whole story line how the wife was a shlump taking care of Vik and now she’s a high powered designer with an assistant
Noah being thrown off the set
The son (too whiny and over the top - example - never explained why he’s so mean to his grandma, acts like a spoiled brat, etc)
The new dumb costume wearing principal

FWIW the scene between Vik and Helen in the car was so well written. The guilt he feels for the sacrifices his parents made for him are very common for Indian families.

Vikram is an Indian name. His mother talks dresses and acts like an Indian mother. Overbearing, no boundaries, stocking his fridge with Indian dishes, passive aggressively treating his middle aged white girlfriend badly as she thinks her son can do so much better.

His family is Indian. I'm assuming they lived in Lebanon, doesn't mean their ethnicity or heritage is Lebanese.

It is confusing. The actor playing Vik has an Egyptian dad. The actress playing his mother is Indian. Vikram is an Indian name. But they talk about immigrating from Beirut. Maybe he is half middle eastern and half indian?

Brown people can play different ethnicities. They can also immigrate from India to Lebanon to America.

There are large Indian immigrant communities all over the world. South Africa. Malaysia. Middle East.

I am from Lebanon and there would not be an Indian doctor working in Lebanon, there just isn’t

I thought it was a terrible episode. The thing with Vic and the neighbor was so obvious and so boring and drawn out and then the whole contrived interaction bw cole and those women In california. It just felt so forced and unreal. This show used to be insightful and at least a little bit unpredictable and nuanced. That’s all gone.

Totally forced. So boring that it’s painful to watch.

My DH has been loving this season so far and I keep saying it’s like a soap opera. Well, we just watched the most recent episode and DH said that all he could about was that my head must’ve been exploding; it was the epitome of a soap opera.

In Cole's case maybe. Vik's neighbor (who looks about 16, not 29 as she claimed!) seemed to be a sounding board for him to work out his feelings.
