Kind of a poor result considering how much parents invest in the real estate to live in that school district and all the money spent on enrichment and extracurricular activities. What a waste of money.

Can't compare with that data...it is reports admissions, not enrollment.
True - but admissions tells me all of their offerings. Enrollment tells me what they could afford or colleges that offered major scholarships to lure top students.
The admissions lists are basically worthless. A single motivated kid can get the entire top 20 schools added to the list. Enrollment tells me that there were at least 15-20 kids getting into vey selective schools.
The only thing worse than admission lists, are the schools that show admissions over the last 3 years.
Why? U know right if you have every year of these “3 years admission” lists, you can derive the current year’s list?
And even if I do, I'm left not knowing whether the fact that every school in the top 20 is listed reflects just one kid. Matriculations are useful, admissions are not.

Thanks. This is same % as sfs and gds each year but with 130 person class, and a clearer ranking system (gpa rank is more laddered than whatever MCPS is doing giving everyone an A or a B)
55 kids (roughly 12%) are going to the schools ranked in the top 25 by US News. Last year that number was 61.

The SEC schools throw tons of money at kids form this area. If you can go to Maryland and Georgia for the same price, which college experience would you pick?
It's very hard to get into college these days. I haven't seen Churchill stats but I am sure they are comparable. Congrats to all the seniors!

Underwhelming list.
Why underwhelming? A public school sent a nontrivial number of kids to elite institutions and a substantial number to darn good ones. No ordinary public school is so special.
This list, except for the number of Gap Year kids, looks very similar to my kid's public in VA. However, swap the UMD number with the UVA number. UVA is coming in at 62 and UMD has 6. There are 2 off to M.I.T this fall from my kid's public.
Which school? Were you talking about admit numbers? In northern VA, top public schools (non-TJ) send about 35 students on average to UVA.

Meh, this is just one piece of a decision. College Park is a pit. Athens is fantastic. If merit money is great, that leaves money for grad school.

Even in the vaunted Whitman cluster, not every family is willing or able to pay $70K/year per kid.
My D is going to UChicago 2022 and try more like $77k this year w/ increases of 3-4% every year. Will be closer to $85k by the time she graduates. And its not only Chicago but many of the top privates.

A bunch of "1"s beside the Top 20 is one thing. But, if the admission list has 10+ beside the Top 20 plus the top tech schools? That's impressive. Enrollment is where reality sets in, finances are realized, and people make choices. TJ's school profile includes the number applied and the number accepted. Now, THAT's helpful.
