My answer is: we left after two years - as did a number of other players - because the Cavs weren't doing a good job of it. All the players were pretty much in the same place individually, although they got better at working as a team. My son is getting a lot more development - and is getting much better as a player - on his new team, even though the team as such is still learning to work with each other.

Cav's like most good teams have coaches who understand the game and coach at least as the HS level or played at the college level. They work every practice on teaching skills and reinforcing those. Older teams probably less so as many of the kids come in with a basic ability to throw, catch, scoop, shoot but drills do improve these skills. The biggest development happens with any sport when kids play with and v. other players with equal and greater ability. Competition is the best form of development. Over the years Cav's have stepped up in many age groups to play a tougher schedule. If you have a son who plans to attend HS in N.VA the typical Cav player will be in a position to complete for a starting varsity spot as a freshman or sophomore. If a player aspires to play at a higher level, his play not the club will get him there. However, as a parent or player, if you are driving hours playing for a new team and sitting on the bench for an ELITE club, are you really getting the best experience?

How do I know this? My son knows and has played with several of them on the same club. Do I care enough to do a quick google search to confirm what some previous poster said? Sure, it takes 10 seconds.

But more importantly, I don't like clubs being disingenuous to parents who pay good money to have their child play for them. I would do the same for any other club. It's just poor practice.

Pffft nobody who signs their kid up for the Cavs 4th, 5th, or 6th grade team gives a shit about their "college commits". And that's when most kids are on Cavs - for a few years of grade school, before they move on to another team.

Are you parents shelling out thousands of dollars so your child can be on a undefeated team, or are you paying for exposure?

Teams don't need to be "super cars" or whatever other stupid analogy you want to use. They just need to be seen by the programs your son wants to play for. It's as simple as that.

Go down the list of commitments for these "Shiite Box" teams that the previous poster alluded to. Kids from VLC, Blackwolf and Madlax are going to schools like Duke, Georgetown, Air Force, Maryland, Penn St., etc. Yeah, real "Shiite Box" schools. None of these teams in the 2020 class dominate and run the table at tournaments. But they place kids, which at the end of the day should be what matters to you. You think anyone asks the kid that committed to a high quality D1 program how they did at the last fall ball tournament? What their club record was? Absolutely laughable.

I think that's the point. There are no super cars on the VA side of the bridge....just a bunch of people arguing over who's the best "Shiite Box"...lol.

What is funny is that VLC lost by one to ML "national" in the same bracket and VLC is much improved over the summer. VLC lost to Freedom by 1 and won the rest of the games. So is Madlax "national" the Hyundai?
