Bitter cougars have to insist that there is something "wrong" with a young woman who wants an older man (and with older men who want younger women). Otherwise the cougars would have to admit that they're no longer attractive and simply can't compete.

Nope. Girls in their 20s do not want money. They want to be entertained. It costs no more to entertain a 20-something girl when a man is 55 than it did when he was 25. If you are 55, and you look good and have any social skills, you can still get 20-something women.

The female demographic that wants your money - the true, determined, ruthless golddiggers - are the ones aged 30-50. They are desperately seeking a man who will pay for the kids they want to have or already have. The sad thing is, there are a lot of men who do not understand "what the relationship is about" when the chick who dumped him when she was 20 so she could sleep around suddenly returns to him when she is 30.

Of course a 50+ year old man can find a 30 year old who wants money spent on her. That is what warrants an eye roll by the siblings. He wants us to fist bump him or something. The daughters find it creepy and uncomfortable, their words not mine, but I get it. OP is probably not going to be interested in that kind of man anyway. She wants advice on how to meet someone at her age and wonders whether it's possible. It definitely is easier for twenties and thirties to meet someone either online or organically through friends meeting up. Her dating pool may or may not be comfortable or familiar with online dating. As a mother of teenagers, she's not going to be hanging out in hip neighborhoods or partying it up with a bunch of other singles. Though it seems as though if she waits a bit...she can live it up in the retirement communities!

Face it. Most middle aged people are not attractive. Those that can snag partners 20-30 yrs younger than them are the outliers and have a lot of offer to make up for being old. Look at POTUS.
