So, Leventhal has a PhD in Public Policy with a dissertation on homelessness, so I guess by not very bright you simply mean you don't agree with his positions?
Also, your reasoning on Berliner doesn't make a lot of sense. On regional issues, the Post is pro-developer and pro-swamp. Hell, it basically *is* the swamp. So if Berliner is, as you suggest, reliably bought and paid for, why would the Post have supported newcomer Blair over him?
