I've been to weddings at both Strathmore and Audubon and wouldn't do it. Your guest list is too big for Strathmore, the rooms are small and it will feel choppy. Lovely venue, though, for a smaller group. Audubon has no AC and this area is August is way too hot. You're basically looking at doing something inside with maybe a nice garden for pictures. Remember that men are wearing suits and the typical wedding dress is a lot of fabric. Both are better suited for cooler temps.

Look at restaurants that have private event spaces. We had ours at The Darlington House in Dupont Circle - they give you the whole 2nd and 3rd floor of the restaurant. It was like having a wedding in a nice house or something.

We got married at Woodend Sanctuary in Chevy Chase, and it was so wonderful!

A few tips, because we were also $$ conscious:
- we got married on Friday night b/c it was much cheaper (though harder on out of town guests)
- we provided our own booze (note: you cannot do this in VA, because of state law. This saved us a ton of money, and was one reason we chose a Maryland location over VA).

The Peabody Library in Baltimore

Is Traxx still around?

Uh, no. Traxx closed at least 15 years ago.

No only did it close in 1999, but it’s gone and buried under the Navy Yard’s WeWork building.

I’m sorry, what?? There is a WeWork building where Tracks once stood? Please tell me this is a horrible lie.

I would gently invite you to go to your Google Map app, type in 80 M Street SE and raise a glass for the once fabulous club. Had some great dates there with my now spouse

Tracks was so much fun! When I used to go there in the mid 80s it seemed like it was it was in the middle of nowhere. It's crazy how that area has changed!

+1
Us too! They also have the Spanish ballroom for an indoor venue. We made it casual and fun and friends couldnt stop telling us how great they thought it was.

And the Annapolis and Baltimore destinations are too far.

My DD called last night thinking maybe we look at a backyard (tented/dance floor etc.) Having a year to plan for and as a designer/being known as for throwing a good party etc - the problem I see with that is the neighbors/noise and having to shut down fun so early so I’m hoping the places I’m unfamiliar with are options.

Go with the backyard wedding. Your budget and guest list is not compatible with a DC-wedding.

I am sure there are places in DC that will rent to you in your budget. Pay no attention to the above negative poster.

The Newton White mansion in PG county. It's a historic site run by the PG county parks department and it is gorgeous and big:

I think the rental is around $5,000 for a Saturday night, cheaper at other times.

Thank you. Love this.

The music is what I miss the most about that place.

Also, if you know someone you can get married at the Supreme Court.

The Carnegie Library in DC is in the process of becoming an Apple store.

Torpedo Factory in Old Town. It was almost 10 years ago, but when I got married there it was $5K to rent it. And because you can bring your own alcohol, even with an outstanding caterer, we were able to keep our costs to $40K (including the rehearsal dinner, at another location the night before).

+1 the North Hall can be beautifully decorated with lights and easy to be catered. Very central so easy access via Uber or metro. Only downside is that it is not near many hotels.
