1460 SAT
4.0 UW GPA with hardest class load at my HS
2 AP (all that were offered)
NM Finalist and scholarship winner and valedictorian
All conference in a sport, year book editor, and a zillion other extracurriculars. .
Applied to and was admitted to Duke (no scholarship), UNC (Moreheas), Wake Forest (full ride), Davidson (tuition). When I applied, there was no doubt in my mind I would be accepted.
My DC has a much harder academic load, and SATs above 1500. Would be lucky to get into any of the schools I applied to (UNC would be OOS for him).

AA female attended local public HS, took many AP courses, got perfect ACT score, high-ish (but not stellar) SATs, right around 1300, and mostly 4s on AP exams. Lettered athlete and leader in JROTC and other well-established clubs.
Did NOT get admitted to my 1st choice (VA Tech) or my reach school (Northwestern).
Admitted to UMD, a variety of SLACs, one "lower ivy" as DCUM calls it, and a few other state flagship schools.
Ended up attending an out-of-state HBCU that offered me a boatload of $$. It wasn't even on my radar, but I have no regrets.

Took AP Exams in Spanish, Chemistry, and Biology, earned 5s on all of them. Scored 1550/1600 on my SAT, and a 35/36 on my ACT. I wanted to major in math or chemistry (and did).
My school's college adviser was a classmates' mother whom I only met with twice during my senior year. And though I wanted to apply to Stanford, my immigrant parents would only allow me to apply to schools within driving distance of home.
I applied to the University of Illinois, the University of Chicago, and Notre Dame, and was admitted to all three. I decided on Notre Dame because my twin sister chose the University of Chicago, and I did not want to attend the same school as her.
I graduated #1 in my Biochemistry major, and was admitted to every medical school to which I applied, including Duke, Johns Hopkins, the University of Chicago, and Yale.
