the BRYC page has tryouts listed for spring that look like the were in February. Does this mean they wont have a tryout session for next fall ? are the only filling roster spots of non returning players boys u10 thru u13?

Are you looking in the right place? Sessions were open starting in February and continuing throughout the spring. I don't think returning players are guaranteed a spot.

Rumors of applying to leagues are rampant but no leagues are yet confirmed. My guess is they would want to be a CCL club but in their first year they probably do not have a demonstrated large enough player pool to be granted admission based on that lone factor. My guess is, that will change this year as they grow. I can see some teams being entered into NCSL next year but they schedule enough tournaments and friendlies to keep kids competing.

Training is excellent and player quality is improving at a rapid rate.

Several of the boys teams have been improving dramatically and winning tournaments this spring in compared to the fall. While not Jeff Cup level tournaments some of the goal differentials are quite striking. The club seems to be progressing the kids and teams at a steady rate and progressing the kids up the tournament chain with purpose. I would not hesitate to look into the program. It is well run, organized, professional and there is a rigid adherence to a style of play that is trained at all levels and ages. There are no rouge coaches "doing their thing". They train a true possession style with no shortcuts that are far more committed to possession than some of the best local examples like BRYC, Alexandria and FCV.

What is known about tryouts at FC Barcelona Escola at Evergreen in Leesburg? Is this a travel club? How is the quality of players and coaching?

Good question. As a parent on this team I can tell you it’s a wonderful team with a very dedicated coach. The club is small so communication and marketing don’t get much of a budget but I’m sure they will post dates for May as they did last year. I think our coach wanted to get ahead and spread the word early.

^^^^ Yes. Usually the coaches are the ones selecting the team.

Question... do the clubs announce the coaches for next year before tryouts?

SYC posted tryout dates. They are so early for the younger kids. Anyone have any feedback on U9/10/11.

It’s good information about other clubs. So if you are thinking about moving clubs, you are a little more informed about the club’s culture.

email the coach or manager listed on the website. some teams run their own tryouts independent of the club and some bigger clubs run tryouts in a club-wide system

Unfortunately nothing. Thread is kind of useless now - not much point in going through pages to find tryout links for a few clubs. Clubs have started posting Tryout Schedules over the past week so start going to the Club web sites if interested. I clicked around some and see that McLean's dates are up (early May), Bethesda South is doing it on a rolling basis at practices, same with BRYC. Annandale posted their Tryouts will start mid May. Probably some others have put their dates up.
