average-looking women are usually not "fit". average looking women are usually in the overweight range.

I'm slender (5'5" and 110 lbs) and average looking - I just have a plain face. I think there are many others like me.

You need to find a divorced women with a kid or two who doesn't want any more babies AND shares 50% custody with her ex. Those women are great, since they have a good amount of free time to actually date and spend time with you.

Unfortunately, even today, most divorced women end up with a majority of custody of the kids. If a woman has the kids 80-100% of the week, it leaves no time for a dating life.

No, I don't think now a days women feel that same pressure, especially in the DC area.

Plus, this started as a parenting forum, and is still laregelt based around this. You're going to find a heavy bias towards children here.

Probably, or they at least haven’t definitely ruled it out yet in their early 30s

Just anecdotally from the women I know, yes, it's that high, especially if you include "keep the option" open, which was me. If DH were absolutely certain he didn't want kids early on, then I probably wouldn't have continued the relationship with him. Kids wasn't my goal, but keeping that option open was important to me.

I met my DH when he was a 35 yo reporter in DC making 50k. I never gave his income a second thought. He did want kids, though. I’d have never gotten serious with him if he hadn’t. That’s just too important to me and, I’d guess, to a lot of other women.

I really am not a couch potato. I am not looking to win the nobel prize or anything, but I am pretty active overall.

I haven't written off women with kids, but i have dated a couple and its just too much. I respect them, and i like their strength, but I didn't get to see them often, which was a dealbreaker. I like a good partner in my life.

I guess i should have mentioned...i am divorced, which may be another deal breaker for some. It was amicable, we married young and in the end...she wanted kids despite telling me the day we married she didn't want any. I asked her every year whether she wanted any, just to make sure.

So yeah. Minds do change.
