And this is coming from being raised in a Muslim family, where my Muslim father was a solid equality supporting feminist, who understood and denounced the fact that women & girls were treated unfairly (even in the US), and regularly got the short end of the stick much too often - and usually as the default.

If you're a man and not a feminist, I'm going to assume you have some deep insecurity/value issues that step much further than gender issues, and stay far away from you.

Of course not!

You are only disqualified from being a feminist if, in practice, you expect the guy to pay most of the time.

In my experience this is a common expectation in the US and one that would horrify European women -- perhaps that's why they have so many women Prime Ministers there, I just thought of five in five seconds!

If the person who invites me on a DATE, than yes I expect him or her to pay unless we made it clear from the beginning that we are going dutch. If I invited a man or woman to do something than I would pay. Also, you really don't know how happily you are married, pp. You spouse may not be and too afraid to tell you, Sweetie!
