We did the forensics camp over the summer of 2017 and my kids loved it. As one mother to another, it wasn't what you think.

Have you ever seen the county publications that comes in the mail? They have all kinds of programs for the summer. I opt for these because there is a hole in the SACC program for summer breaks.
It keeps the kids busy and at least its fun. These programs are scripted and regimented, and run by much younger kids then the SACC programs.

I am so very sorry. This is abusive. Someone needs to show all this to P. Fitz and demand action. I would also show it to the PTA President and contact FFX School Board and Mt. Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck, he knows the school very well. Enough is enough.

To the poster before me, this is my first time on this board. I also work in the area but our precious ones are out on the other side of Springfield. I went on here because we are thinking of moving into the Fort Hunt/Hollin Hall area just because we are tired of commuting. I don't know, this SACC issue does sound like gambling. How can you as parents let it go on? Are you really afraid of this woman?

PP here, and I no longer live in the area. I am in the Midwest now, but would certainly act if I were there. I didn't have direct problems with her in my interactions, but things like my kid peeing her pants were just unacceptable. Based on what others have said, she is clearly a major problem. If still there, I would confront any accountable leader - It's just in my nature, but I realize not everyone is like that. And I'm sure it's hard being called a racist in retaliation for addressing issues, especially when so many parents choose Ft. Hunt for it's diversity. That being said, I certainly hope a few parents band together. I know the area is known for people keeping their heads down (ironically, as many are drawn there as public servants), but think of the next Kindergartner who starts there and is frightened. It's really absurd that she wields so much power. Isn't the principal's daughter in SACC?

I don't know if she is, but that would probably be a good reason to let things go. It won't go anywhere.

I have one child in Fort Hunt. She is ok with the school. She hates the SACC. I talked with the SACC teachers, Mr. Chris is a very nice guy, and I enjoy seeing him. The other heavy set woman is also very nice, and there is one African American that leads the summer art program with dance and I think drama. All are great. I can't speak to the woman in charge, I never see her do anything. In summer SACC she stayed in a little office across the street from Mt Vernon High School, at Fort Hunt she sits at that desk when you come on to get your kid, and otherwise, I don't think she interacts with the kids at all. If she is this nasty I would be willing to go in united, but I agree its going to be a bunch of hate and discontent.
Playing the advocate, letting it go and waiting until she retires may be a good option. There is no win-win here. What ever is decided is must be a clear concise decision, and come from one parent in the form of a complaint. A mob of parents might be a little much for a new principle.
It's a nice diverse school, and I like it. We still need room for improvement. Maybe it is time to get out with the old and in with the new. This woman may just need to retire. The old ways of the of the 80s and 90s just don't work .

It’s called being a grown- up. She isn’t friggin Harvey Weinstein, and even he was brought down. I know there are folks out there willing to step up and ignore those complicit in letting it continue.

I would step up if others did. Going alone here is madness. I am a single parent, and my Ex threatened me if I go against the SACC at Fort Hunt. We both know there is issues, I see a need to do it, but someone needs to take a leadership role. I know other parents in dance that love their SACC, I feel like I am the one stuck in the junky one. SACC was supposed to make my life easier.

I do not agree with this poster 100%, but in someways I think this is probably correct. I have kids in SACC, and I don't want there to be any issues. I want things to be easy and smooth, it takes so much effort, and I don't want anyonecoming after me and my family. I had a neighbor call CPS on us because my kids walked on their grass. It is a totally intrusive and terrible experience. I didn't sleep for months. It not worth it. Just be quiet and move on. You can count me out, I want no part no matter how wrong that woman is.

Well I am in 100% disagreement with both of you. If you don’t stand up for kids in an abusive situation, what do you stand for? The threat of CPS as a threatening tactic should not stop a well organized group of parents. Strength in numbers. Doing what’s right is never easy, but given her track record I couldn’t sleep at night letting it go on.

Fighting takes up so much time and effort. I am not going to lie, this scares me. Call me a coward, but you have a bunch of administration typed come in, it is bad for everyone. No one wins, the kids suffer, some parents get slandered. It is Northern Virginia. People here go out of there way NOT to HELP when its controversial. This area has a history of coldness and if you live here you should know that. I am against any kind of intervention, it will only make things worse for the rest of the year. The kid will always be remembered as being trouble, the teachers, the administrators, the principle, the SACC staff will put a scarlet letter around the kid and familys neck that will last for ever.

I lived there for years and only recently moved. I have a strong opinion as I love that school. Nova is not a monolith. There are people there with backbone. No one is forcing anyone to put themselves out there, but those that do nothing are part of this being a long term problem. Change is messy. It takes a toll. I truly wish I had known all this last year so I could lead the charge. But doing what’s right is clear.

I work as a SACC employee. It's true, I come on here to see what parents have to say. I don't work with the woman that many are talking about, but I know her.
