OP here. Exactly. This is a double standard where women actually care a lot more about attractive women, than about attractive men. I am going to be honest here, I don't watch most movies for substance any more, but I like some eye candy. At least easy on the eyes, but the fact that we have pages on the other thread just proves the point that women judge and tear apart other women viciously. I will never understand why.

I don't think you have proved this at all. It is just for women we have more words for describing their beauty. Men's beauty is less interesting to us, so we just call them "handsome" if they have chiseled features and leave it at that. For women, we have all kinds of words to describe different beauties.

there is research on this. there is much more agreement (among men and women) regarding female vs male beauty.

Other people may have proven it, but the poster I quoted has not. This thread does not at all prove it, especially with its nebulous use of the word "classic".

I never thought Robert Redford was close, but recently saw Three Days of the Condor and was blown away by how good looking he was too.

For modern day, I think Matt Bomer from White Collar and Jesse Williams are just unbelievably handsome.

For me, the difference between "classically handsome" and just plain hot is that the latter is sometimes a guy with a weird quirk but who pulls it off - like a young Sam Shepard was hot, but not "classically handsome."

For me Willem Dafoe or Charles Bronson (who I always found repugnant, but in Once Upon a Time in the West, woah).

I've heard something else is big, too.

It will always be Christian Bale in Reign of Fire for me.

I've always thought he was goofy.

Sans tattoos, piercings, and weird accessories Jonnhy Depp is/was really handsome.

He was not goofy at all in The Outsiders, but he was goofy in Something About Mary.
