NP. I was not expecting to see Anguilla on this list either! Anguilla was one of my favorite vacations ever, and I definitely don't have the $$ to stay at Cap Juluca.

We stayed at Cuisinart, roughly eight years ago, in late fall. It was just okay, food was good. Maybe we stayed at the wrong place or visited during the wrong time of year, the resort was nearly empty. The island felt empty!

Another one who didn't like Los Angeles at all, especially the sprawl and traffic and design of the buildings. I've enjoyed other cities in California though.

Agreed. I don't understand the Outerbanks at all. I have been going to Kiawah for years and was expecting something similar but it just doesn't compare.

I don't know why you would expect something similar. Kiawah is a championship golf and tennis resort, and the Outer Banks is an unspoiled coastline where people rent homes for the week and mostly just go to the beach. I certainly wouldn't compare the two or put one over the other. If you were expecting Kiawah, I can see why you were disappointed, but when I go to the Outer Banks, I get exactly what I want in a vacation. To each their own.

We love the Outer Banks, but we go to Hatteras (Frisco area) in September or October when the air and water are warm (but not too hot), and there aren't many tourists. We've splurged for houses with pools, and sometimes right on the ocean. It is beautiful and relaxing. But, I agree that the northern part of the outer banks isn't as great.

Nope, I never go anywhere that I don't personally want to go to. I research the hell out of it, plan trips minutely, so in the end I'm not disappointed.

And of course the cities themselves are interesting if you consider that as recently as 35 yrs ago they were sand and the country had the highest infant mortality rate in the world.

(I lived there for years, I do not work for their tourism board! But it is a long way from here)

Lol, I just booked this for spring break after reading reviews here and elsewhere. And we’re AA—lucky us.

So are we (NP). We enjoyed it, and could generally care less about the racial make up of our vacation destinations. The beaches are pretty, people were friendly, good food, fun place. No idea about the resort though.

Is it just the lack of stuff to do? My family had such a great time when I was a kid that my dad bought land there! He sold it eventually and I haven't been back in 15 years.

Didn't you answer your own question by saying you haven't been back in 15 years since you were a kid? Why don't you go back? I don't like the driving, strip malls, lack of walking amenities there. I like a livelier beach experience.

Another who doesn't like the Outer Banks. The drive there is so miserable. I grew up on the lower Eastern Shore and many family and friends vacation on the outer banks, which is weird to me but I guess they want less crowded beaches. Living in DC, the drive there is SO miserable that the rest of it isn't worth it. And there's just not enough to do there (I'm very fair skinned so a full day in the sun isn't great for me).

The drive there is misserable if you go Saturday and get there between 10am and 6pm. Any other time it is pretty much a breeze. 4.5 to 5 hours for us from and to Annapolis.
