My parents allowed 8 friends from hs come visit our house in Aruba the summer before hs. My parents were there. As a parent now I cringe thinking back to the whole situation. HELL TO THE NO!

A high percentage of DCUM is under the misguided belief that anything related to Europe is automatically better, more sophisticated and safer

There are museums, etc to see in Italy. Kids go to the Bahamas to get drunk, go on the Booze Bruise etc.

And get drunk. Sometimes you get drunk before going to the museums or after- Spent time in Italy as a teen.

Having gone for spring break senior year in college and legal for drinking, hell no. And I don’t drink but there’s way too much stuff down there to get into huge trouble.

Yeah. And if you go missing you only make the news if you are pretty, and generally white. As comedian Patrice Oneal said...."If I go out sailing, I'm bringing a white baby on a key chain. So if we go missing they'll be sure to do a long search"

I was a relatively tame teenager. But if my parents had let me go on a trip like this (unchaperoned, 2 weeks!!) I would totally have been getting shit faced and messing around with the opposite sex the entire time.

Do people think chaperoned is really much better? The parents who volunteer to do the chaperoning are almost always getting blitz and trying to be "cool" mom and dad reliving their glory years.
