My 20mo says Mel-mo for Elmo. And instead of calling him Cookie Monster, he just does the eating cookie motion and says nom-nom-nom the way Cookie Monster does.

My two year old was playing with her little Fisher Price toy phone, punching buttons and making sounds. Playing along, I picked up my iPhone, put it to my ear, and pretended to answer it, saying "Hello, Larla?!" She looked at me like I was the dumbest person on the planet and said "I wasn't calling you, Mama. I was just sending you a text."

My 18mo says hiya baby to people often, a carry over from me saying hi to him after naps. Gets a lot of laughs from random strangers.

I'm getting the story wrong. Oops. They were discussing at daycare hospitals and the teacher must have said something along the lines of "babies are born in hospitals" to which DD replied, "No, I was born in a banjo on my knee!"

Confused, the teacher asked me at pickup what that meant...took me awhile too before I realized DD was trying to tell her teacher that she was born in Louisiana (because the banjo on my knee part of the song comes right before they say Louisiana).

We like to sing Oh! Susanna to my 2.5 year old, especially because she was born in Louisiana as my husband was finishing up grad school at Tulane...we've told her this but I didn't think she cared/paid any attention until she recently announced at daycare "I was born in a banjo on my knee!!"

"Mommy, I'm going to go roughhouse now."

My 2.5 year old has taken to beginning sentences with "Listen up!" I don't know where she got it, but it cracks us up.

My DS (who has speech delays so any talking is a celebration) has taken to shouting AND THANK YOU from the end of "You're Welcome" at totally random times.

Mine says "last morning" for yesterday. Or really, anytime in the past.

This isn't really a toddlerism but when it happened last night I thought of this thread.

Last night I was reading Goodnight Moon to my toddler and I guess she's been reading it a lot with DH because she knows so much of the book now.

I said, 'goodnight room' and she whispered, 'goodnight cow jumping moon' and when we got to the old lady she whispered 'hushhhhh' and she also piped in and whispered 'goodnight mush' as quietly as she could. It was so adorable.

OMG, I came here to write that one of the kids in my 2s class used to say this!

My 2 year old calls nostrils "nose whistles" and fingernails "handernails."

When he trips or bumps unto something, my 2.5 year old says "You OK, Larlo?" and then immediately, "Imma be OK."
