How would I say thank you to you, while we're both driving?
DP (who doesn't do what pp does), but if you put your hand up and give a little wave or something when someone lets you in, that means thank you.
NP. Exactly. If I let you in because you waited until the last minute, you damn well better give me a thank you wave.

Your kid should have let the aggressive driver go first. Did you tell him that? Just because it's your turn to merge doesn't mean you should risk your life.

Sorry, you were wrong.
Now we know how Maryland drivers learn to be such shitty drivers. Mommy is a moron and signs don't apply to MEEEEEEE!

There is no legal obligation to allow someone to merge into your lane (though aggressively blocking may be another issue). If you choose not to, you are a douchebag. But not a law breaker. Even if it is costomary for locals to “take turns” (which is nice and proper) it isn’t legally required.
So what you taught your son was not how to safely operate a vehicle in a lawful manner. What you taught him was that regardless of the law, he should do what seems fair.
You obviously didn't read my description. I specifically said that both lanes ended into one lane. So the other guy's lane was also ending as well. Unfortunately, nobody broke the law in this situation, including my son. He was in front of the guy who tried to cut us off and he has the right of way to merge next. He tried to speed up and cut him off the road.
You are probably one of those jerks who cuts people off on a regular basis.
I can't think of any roads I've ever traveled on where "both lanes ended into one lane." There is always a through lane, and an adjacent lane that merges into it. If you've found one, care to post it's location so we can all take a look?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I just move over when it's my turn to merge.
You have a choice to either extend the established courtesy of letting me in as the alternate vehicle, OR, we can make contact. But I'm merging.
I drive an old, beat to shit truck, and I don't care about it. I've had two merge-sideswipes in three years. One I was found at fault for, and the other, the other driver was cited and I wasn't. I guess it depends on the opinion of the officer.
Anyways, I'm coming over when it's my turn. No one will get hurt, but if you don't want to let me in, your gonna lose some paint. And I'm ok with that.
+1

So you would cause an accident just because some people don't say thank you?
Yes.
